About Haris Kaitis
Haris Kaitis was born in Nicosia, Cyprus and took his first steps into the world of photography over 30 years ago, at a very young age, using a point-and-shoot 110-type film camera. Realizing that his 110 camera did not allow him to fully explore his creativity, he soon upgraded to an entry level fully manual 35mm film SLR camera which was the best possible tool that enabled him to master the different photographic techniques and started shooting only on slide film ever since. By the age of 18 he upgraded his equipment to a high-end SLR with a number of interchangeable lenses and a dedicated flash and suddenly photographic possibilities became endless! Although reluctant to make the bold step to move into digital photography, around 2003 he bought his first digital camera and never returned to film ever since.
With the motto that “shooting a photo is about a third of the work to the desired result", he spends a considerable amount of time planning the shoot and digitally editing many of his images. He applies a multi-layering of concept(s), object(s) and technology to deliver a convergence of art and photography.
He is involved into many categories of photography including Portrait, Fashion, Fitness, Travel, Landscape, Night, Portrait, Street, Sport, Event, BW and Wildlife both from the ground and from the air.
Before deciding to fully dedicate himself to photography, he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the UK and subsequently worked as an IT Professional for 20 years. In 2012 he registered his firm Avantgarde (a limited liability company based in Cyprus) as the platform for offering high quality photography and videography services in the region.
